Overcompensating much??
Merry Christmas Eve y’all! I still can’t believe it’s December... let alone Christmas... let alone the end of the year. Despite the fact that the season hasn’t felt as magical as it usually does for me... I definitely didn’t want that to be the case for my kiddies. So naturally that turned into overcompensating. Egghh.
My oldest made so many sacrifices this year (and has been such a trooper through it all) that his Christmas “wish list” basically turned into our shopping list... and then some.
I blame Amazon prime... and the fact that we had to hide gifts so well this year (since all these kids are here ALL THE TIME) that I started to forget what we had even purchased. 😩
It was too late when I heard another mommy blogger encourage parents not to overcompensate with gifts, but instead save that money for a memorable experience when things are “back to normal” (e.g. a trip). I only WISH we had thought to do that sooner because it is what it is now. These gifts ain’t going back (check my story)... 🤣. Nonetheless there is still an opportunity to make some changes ongoing because I fully believe experiences are far more meaningful than these material things.
So mommas let me know in the comments below if you overcompensated with gifts this year because the year has been so jacked up for the kiddies, or did you keep things pretty much the same as always?!
